Need A New Water Heater Installed? 2 Types To Choose From

Posted on

If your water heater gave out on you and it is old, it is time for a new one. You should hire a professional to install the new water heater for you to be sure it is done correctly. There is the standard kind of water heater that many people have in their homes, but there are other types you may not be aware of.  Below is information about two types so you can decide what you would like for your home.

Tankless Water Heater

A tankless water heater is much smaller than a standard water heater as there is no tank. Instead of a tank, this water heater uses coils to heater water. When you turn on the water, the water is automatically heated and sent to the faucet. Therefore, you will often hear this type of water heater referred to as an on-demand water heater. Even if you have a large family that uses a lot of water in your home, this water heater will work great for you. This does depend on the size you choose, however, so make sure you choose the right size for the amount of water your family uses.

This type of water heater is energy efficient as the water is not being heated all day. Instead, it is only heated when a faucet is turned on. This type is so small that you could easily hang it on a wall or sit on the floor.

Solar Water Heater

If your home has solar panels or you are planning to put solar panels on your roof, a solar water heater would work well for you. This is because a solar water heater gets its power from the sun.

This water heater has a tank like a traditional water heater. Inside the tank is a closed-loop system. When it is sunny outside, the sun produces the energy needed to heat the closed-loop system. When this happens, you will have hot water when you turn on a faucet. Water will stay heated constantly throughout the day.

You do need to have a backup with this water heater to heat your water at night and on days that are not sunny. This backup could run on electricity or natural gas.

Contact a water heater installation company to learn much more about these water heaters, as well as other types that are available. This company can also install the water heater that you choose.
